The lights of the Vegas strip were not the only things burning bright this past July. Lovely Delegates from around the country wowed the town as they arrived for the 2007 United States National Pageants.
As the Delegates of the Miss Junior Teen, Miss Teen, Ms. & Ms. Woman United States National Pageants arrived at the beautiful Orleans Hotel and Casino, they were greeted by the five story illuminated hotel marquee featuring photos of the reigning 2006 queens, Miss Junior Teen United States, Megan McMaster, Miss Teen United States, Elizabeth Wilson, Kayla Downs, Ms. United States, and Dawn Basham, Ms. United States Woman.
SATURDAY, JULY 28 - The United States Pageants kicked off in elegant fashion with the Delegates’ Welcome Orientation. Upon registration, Delegates were delighted to receive their logo-embossed pageant totes, filled with goodies and pageant essentials. Family members and State Directors attended the information filled session along with the Delegates.
At the end of the seminar, an expert in hair care conducted and judged the Redken Beautiful Hair Contest, which recognized four lovely Delegates for their gorgeous tresses. The winners were Shaunie Surrency, Miss Florida Jr. Teen, Courtney Sturgill, Miss Virginia Teen, Cadi Pedigo, Ms. Louisiana, and Sophia Hall, Ms. New York Woman.
Following some free time to “settle in,” organized rehearsals quickly
began with excited Delegates perfecting their on-stage dance and chic walk patterns.
The first day’s excitement continued with the fashionable Ball Gowns and Bowling Shoes event. Delegates, dressed in elegant evening gowns, took to the lanes to try their hand at this fun sport. After lots of laughs and photos, the Delegates agreed that this event would forever be a special memory.

SUNDAY, JULY 29 - Rehearsal continued all day. In the evening, the Delegates were escorted in royal motor coach style down the bustling Vegas strip to the Harley Davidson Café for a dinner hosted by the National Directors.
After dinner, family and friends
were treated to exclusive seating and were on hand to support their favorite
Delegate in the SuperModel with Style Fashion Show Modeling Contest.
Accompanied by upbeat music, each Delegate had a chance to travel down the runway
and showcase her personal flair for fashion and modeling style to the judges.
Four winners, one in each division, were awarded the top model crown that evening!
Proceeds from the ticket sales of this event benefited the Smile Train Foundation,
an organization that helps children with cleft palate deformities.
Afterwards, each Delegate had their photo taken on a rare Harley motorcycle and boarded the chartered bus for a trip to The Fremont Experience, a canopied light show in downtown Las Vegas. But, the fun and excitement culminated as crowds of people gathered around the group of beauties, requesting autographs and photo opportunities with their home state favorites. It was a busy evening for all, and the Delegates returned to the hotel for a well-deserved rest.

MONDAY, JULY 30 - Monday was a big day and the morning began early with the United States Pageants traditional Poolside Photo Shoot. Afterwards it was on to rehearsals!

TUESDAY, JULY 31 – More Rehearsals, Rehearsals, Rehearsals. After a break for lunch and ballot casting for Miss Congeniality, rehearsals continued until days end.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1- This was a tough day for the Delegates as this was Personal Interview Day! After the last Delegate was judged, the general consensus of the group was that the Judges were really nice and asked great questions. Each Delegate had a chance to take their picture in their Interview Suit before enjoying some free time with their families.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 2 - On Thursday, the excitement built throughout the day in anticipation of the big event as family and friends arrived at the ticket box office to purchase their tickets. It was finally time for the Preliminaries and the beautiful women in their bright colored, jewel-toned cocktail dresses impressed the audience with the opening dance number, “Let’s Get Loud.”
The
first preliminary scoring segment was the Swimsuit Competition,
which included upbeat music and a dazzling bright-colored light display. After
a compelling video showing close ups of the Delegates’ faces, the scoring
continued with the elegant Evening Gown Competition
staged with dreamy mood lighting and serene, inspirational music. As scores
were being tabulated, Pageant Host and well-known Las Vegas entertainer, Jay
Joseph, serenaded the Delegates with the song “Pretty Woman.” The
audience cheered for their favorite Delegate as the afternoon concluded with
the beautiful and stunning Parade of Gowns segment.
The Final competition started in the evening with the ladies dancing to the fabulous opening number, “This is the Night.” Immediately following the opening number, six top finalists were called in each division. Three scoring segments followed which included: Finalists On-stage Interview, Swimsuit and Evening Gown Competitions. Between scoring segments, the 2006 reigning queens and Jay Joseph were spotlighted in a special song and dance number, “Dream Girls.” Before the awards and crowning moments started, the audience was also treated to a queens’ video tribute that highlighted each queen’s year in pictures.
